Services available at Peurakaltio: cafe, accommodation, sauna and spectacular nature trails
Tallikahvio in Peurakaltio is known for its home-made delicacies that are available again this winter season along Aakenuksentie, near Ylläs. The cafe is located at the crossroads of the most beautiful ski trails and serves mostly locally-sourced food and drink: even the berries are foraged from the nearby area. Tallikahvio also serves overnight guests, providing hearty breakfasts and delicious lunches and/or suppers, plus a packed lunch. Tallikahvio is also excellently suited to different kinds of evenings and, for example, arranging birthdays, wedding receptions and other festive events. For information and bookings, please call 040-5146655.
When you arrive by car, drive about 10 km from Äkäslompolo towards Muonio, then turn into Aakenuksentie towards Kittilä. The road branches off to the left after 3.5 km at the top of the hill and you will arrive in the yard of Peurakaltio very soon. The skiing/walking distance from Äkäslompolo is at least 13 km.
New snowshoe-walking/winter cycling tracks have also been opened in the area. The route comes from the direction of Elämänluukku through the spectacular landscapes of Äkässaivo. From Peurakaltio, the route then continues to the Myllykahvio mill cafe in Äkäsmylly. Here you have two different options to choose from, though it’s of course possible, even recommended, to do the full loop. Getting across the rapids at Äkäsmylly is easy along the robust wooden bridge. From Äkäsmylly you can continue on for a 7 km sprint up to the Äkäskero hotel.
In addition to our Tallikahvio in Peurakaltio, there is also the mill cafe of Äkäsmylly in the vicinity, which you can reach in 6.2 km or 13.8 km, depending on your choice of route and mode of transport.
We offer e.g. home-made:
